DAY ONE                                        D

Flying south, we soar over snow-capped mountains to arrive in the breathtaking alpine wonderland of Queenstown. This is a perfect time to visit, as the landscape is painted with the vibrant hues of autumn. Upon landing, we’ll meet a tour guide, as we travel along the edge of the serene Lake Wakatipu. The scenic drive takes us through stunning vistas as we make our way to Te Anau, the picturesque gateway to Fiordland National Park. Te Anau’s charm lies in its tranquil setting, nestled against a beautiful lake and surrounded by dramatic mountain ranges. After settling into our comfortable lakeside accommodation, we’ll gather for a delicious dinner. This is the perfect opportunity to reflect on the day’s journey, get to know one another, and discuss the exciting adventures that lie ahead as we prepare to explore the wonders of Fiordland.

DAY TWO                                       B, L, D

Enjoy breakfast whilst taking in the lake and mountain views before boarding our courtesy tour bus to deliver us to the jetty. The second-largest fiord in the National Park, Doubtful Sound will take your breath away with its rugged peaks, verdant rainforest and twisting, hidden inlets. Home to abundant wildlife, you may see bottlenose dolphins and fur seals at play or catch a glimpse of a rare Fiordland Crested Penguin. Getting to Doubtful Sound is an adventure in itself. With no direct road access, the only way you can get to Doubtful Sound is by a cruise across Lake Manapouri and a coach trip over Wilmot Pass. This isolation makes the fiord an extraordinary place, a place only those in the know get to see. Snacks and sandwiches are available for purchase onboard. We will arrive back at our accommodation, freshen up then enjoy another lovely dinner, feeling uplifted and inspired.

DAY THREE                                    B, L, D

We have an exciting day ahead with a Coach-Cruise-Coach adventure to the stunning Milford Sound. Boarding mid-morning, relax in comfort with reclining seats, a glass roof, and large windows for panoramic mountain views. Along the way, our expert guide will provide informative commentary, offering a deeper appreciation of the region. We’ll stop for several photo opportunities along the famous "Milford Road." Upon arrival, we’ll stretch our legs before boarding a vessel for a scenic cruise along the fiord. Our onboard nature specialist will share insights into the region’s history and wildlife. Experience the cool spray from waterfalls as we get close to towering rock faces, and watch for dolphins, seals, and, in season, Fiordland crested penguins. We’ll cruise all the way to the Tasman Sea entrance. After our return coach trip, we’ll regather as a group for a delightful evening dinner at the hotel to reflect on the day’s incredible adventure.

DAY FOUR                                      B, MT, D

This morning, we head up the Mararoa River, following its braided path until reaching Mavora Lakes, one of the treasures of Southland and part of the South-West New Zealand World Heritage Area. They are situated amongst an impressive landscape of mountains, lakes, beech forest, and tussock grassland. We will enjoy our picnic morning tea in this beautiful spot, before continuing our journey. Upon arrival in Queenstown, we enjoy some free time to wander and have some lunch before we head to our hotel to freshen up for our next adventure. This evening, we board our vessel for a cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station where we will enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner and a walk around the beautiful homestead gardens and buildings, enjoying our final evening together as a group. Please note If the TSS Earnslaw is not available due to maintenance, a substitute vessel will be provided.
